Notes: Prometheus

"From the formative hand of Prometheus, however, independent works take their place. His work becomes visible in works that exist independently of him; he understands himself to produce, to create freely. It is this ability that characterizes him."

The work-character of a strong inheritance opposed to the technicians of a transitional order. One can imagine that Prometheus follows lines of great transition, but he arises in a world with a certain formative character. The permanent transitional character is something other than becoming, it is marked by non-divinity. As much as it increases the explosive power of technology through refinement practises, perfection of the elements, it also resides in a territory of dwindling fuel resources - a flame perpetually at the cusp of going out. Smoke forms from the ground in equal parts with mist, the slightest fog as a counterpart to oil and the aether which gods must hold to as the hidden reserves of their territory. Without this divine resource, this invisible territory, the pomerium itself comes under threat, the divine oath begins to lose its power. Aether is the border to Tartarus, even where they chasm pierces into their lands and divides them. It is also the path leading out of the subterranean realms. This is also of the primordial genealogy, a timelessness and eternal dominion - that triumphant territory which becomes sublime at the approach, as one steps into the void of its borders. Here the titans see that the territory they are determined to reach may only be taken by eating the gods alive.
